Remember: The 9 men who died doing what they do…

June 30th, 2007

Firefighters fighting fires…Am sure all of you have heard the tragic fire that we had here in South Carolina…it was a furniture store and the firefighters came to try to stop it from spreading around the home/businesses area of West Ashley. Tragically, they died doing what they do - rescuing and fighting fire…they save a man and lost their lives doing it…There was a lot of tribute honoring those men, and if you saw the Memorial service that was held at the North Charleston Coliseum, it was pack with friends, family all around from SC and the neighboring states! I watched it on PBS, I cried my eyes out… yes, am very emotional… hubby had to leave.. I just wanted to do my bit, to remember those men that died doing the job they love best, protecting us from harm….they’re very special people; those who serve the public….WE WILL NEVER FORGET THESE NINE HEROIC MEN.

They’ve been honored in the last few days and I wanted to do it in my own way, to remember those nine extremely brave and courageous firefighters who gave their lives protecting the Charleston community. Our thoughts and payers are with these local heroes’ families, friends and fellow firefighters. Together they have served the community 132 years!! The names are below:

Captain William “Billy” Hutchinson
30 years of service

Captain Mike Benke
29 years of service

Captain Louis Mulkey
11½ years of service

Engineer Mark Kelsey
12½ years of service

Engineer Bradford “Brad” Baity
9 years of service

Assistant Engineer Michael French
1½ years of service

Firefighter James “Earl” Drayton
32 years of service

Firefighter Brandon Thompson
4 years of service

Firefighter Melvin Champaign
2 years of service

We encourage the community to help the families of the lost firefighters, by sending a donation to: City of Charleston Firemen’s Fund, P.O. Box 304, Charleston, SC 29402. Letters and condolences are also welcomed and can be sent to: City of Charleston Fire Department, Attn: Firefighter Condolences, 262 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401.

The families and fellow friends of all firefighters greatly appreciate all our wishes and I encourage all of you wherever you are, to go visit your local firefighters, you be surprise.. they’re just great guys/gals…I have my deepest respect for anyone who serve and protect the public in any kind of harm and help them in any they can. Thank you for reading and hope that all of you have a wonderful day…

Sorry I’ve been missing in action lately, just too many things going in real life… but I still smile…you have to or else you go nuts!!! As you know that I am involved in this community that I lived…its getting to me, especially some owners that are just to make trouble and make your life a misery…then run the whole as how THEY want it and forget about the By-Laws..etc… grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr….

Hope everyone had a wonderful day today and the weekend will be upon us in just a few days.. so what is everyone plan for the 4th of July celebrations? Me, well working of course!!! What did you think!! LMAO…

Till then…god bless and be safe!! Oh, listen to NAB Radio

SILENCE…

June 26th, 2007

Internet Radio feel silent today in protest to the bill that is waiting at the senate floor for the internet radio stations to be shut down….it will be silent world if the big corporate world of big bucks get their way… the independent internet radio stations around the world will no longer be… Why is it being targeted to the small business that some are there for playing songs that you won’t hear on FM stations as they play over and over songs that is Top 40!! We as American people have to right to listen to whatever music we prefer and be able to play…we are not arguing that we won’t pay, we will pay like the satellite stations a percentage of 7%…its also an avenue for all the talent musicians that other wise the big record company won’t listen…Please go to Save Internet Radio and call your Senator/Congressman to help support the Internet Radio Equality Act, S. 1343 in the Senate and H.R. 2060 in the house of reps….we need all your support.

NAB Radio is now silent, its such a lonely place to not able to listen to some great music…

Mom & Dad - Golden Anniversary!

June 22nd, 2007

Dear Mom & Dad,

This is my parent’s 40th AnniversaryHappy 50th Anniversary - as this is your Golden year!! I know that you’re celebrating it close friends and family this day and I just wished that I was there with you. I know that you wanted all of us to be there, but I can only speak on my part, there are obligations that deemed impossible to be able to join you in celebrating this special day. In place, my son, your Grandson, Adam will be representing me in my absence.

I wished with all my heart that I was there with you and hoping that soon, we can be together and have a “family reunion” with all your children and grandchildren. Mom, I hope that you are enjoying the CD’s we have put together for you both for your enjoyment; Ian and I made a special one just for you and Dad with extra songs and a message we both recorded in remembrance of this special day!

We love you both very much and miss you; we are looking forward to seeing some great pictures and hopefully to see you both soon!

Mom at 18!We love you Mom, Dad in his younger daysWe love you Dad…

Love Always from your eldest daughter & son-in-law,

Kathy & Ian :)

Happy Birthday Dad!!

June 20th, 2007

Dad in his younger daysHappy Birthday Dad!! You’re 82 yrs young today. I hope that you are enjoying your day playing tennis and celebrating with family and friends. We’ve had our issues in my younger days and had some blow ups along the way.

I guess its part of growing up and you’re set in your ways and just as stubborn as I am. I may not say it often, and we don’t see you and Mom as often either, but I love you both very much and I remember all the fun times we had as a family growing up.

I know that you and Mom had your differences, but we were always a family and I remember all the “summer vacations” trips we took as a family when we were all little and saw the whole West Coast!! Even California, up/down the coast and all around! We had a blast and I will always remember those times and wished that I could do that with my son.

Adam has grown to be a handsome young man (must be in the gene pool) and hopefully will do great things as you have expected from all your children. You’re one smart man and I know that I’ve learned a lot growing up but didn’t know it at that time; but as I look back in my own life, you did teach me a great deal. I just want to thank you for all the things you’ve done for us and all the things you taught us.

Yes, even if we thought we “knew” it all!! As I am finding out with my own son, so in the end, I guess I am passing down what you’ve taught me to try to teach my son. I hope I do as a great job as you and Mom did with all of us. I miss you both terribly and I know you were both hoping that I would make it down this year for your 50th…regretfully, obligations deemed not to be this year, but we are hoping to see you both soon!!

I love you Dad and Have a wonderful birthday.

Love Always, Your Eldest Daughter,
Kathy :)
