Bereavement

January 26th, 2008

My Mom has taken my Dad’s body back to Mambajao, where he requested to be buried in the family cemetary.  In the meantime, we are working on getting my papers sorted to be there for my Mom and assist her in the funeral…. This is really not a good time for me, so please bear with me while I go thru this loss and am sure some of you can relate. Its very hard for me, as well as, I didn’t get to see him…I’ve not seen my dad for 10 years…and he wanted to see me, as he had asked for me….

Bereavement

January 23rd, 2008

Today is a sad day for our family, I received a phone call from my sister this afternoon, that after trying hard to help my Dad, he passed away around 2ish in the afternoon EST - which is around 2am in the Philippines! I am concern about my Mom and we are all planning a trip home.  This is very hard for me, as Dad was asking for me and called him but he couldn’t talked, he had tubes in his mouth…

I am not really in a talking mood, just very much upset, as I wanted to see him so much and now…. I will miss him and need to concentrate on getting all affairs in order.  Pray for our loss and to my Mom…

Its really a crap day, raining and cold, hate this kind of weather, I would prefer to be in bed, all nice and cozy under me covers…watching a bit of telly or reading a favorite book!  I hate driving in the rain, as there are people drive a lunatic!

Tonight, we going over to the neighbors for dinner and just chill out…its makes a break in the day. So all of you out there in cyber space, whatever you are doing have fun and be safe…

Keep blogging away… :)

Today after work, hubby came and pick me up from work and we went to The Blind Tiger at Broad Street, its a nice quaint pub that has the best chef in town!! Okay, there’s lots of great chefs here in Charleston and great restaurant, but this pub, you can watch the chef make the food while sitting on one of the bar…he made my shrimp salad and hubby had the steak sandwich…its was yummy, then he made a dessert that was to die for!! IT was made with Jagermeister - he called it Jagercream fresh…man it was the best and guess what the beers was good and it was on happy hour…the beer was under $2!! Who can beat that! We’re definitely be back there for either lunch or maybe have a party there….

Inlaws will be here in April, so this is one of the places we surely will go and we didn’t get a chance to check the back, the outdoor bar…this is going to be next outing…so if you ever around Charleston, go to The Blind Tiger - 36 Broad Street, its just around the corner where i work too!! How convenient is that!

Hope everyone have a wonderful weekend! Its also MLK day on Monday, so some of you have a 3 day weekend.. so enjoy!:)

Living In Condo Community…

January 16th, 2008

Well, I’ll be… yes we had our Annual Meeting, but at first it didn’t go quite as smoothly as it then again…let’s see, Tom the outgoing prez called in a panic that we were not scheduled to have a room or on the list and I told him this was set up before Christmas and spoke Marsha from the Mayor’s office and confirm she put it in the calendar…well to cut a long story short, he got the room…now, for the next one, I ran late, had to go a neighbors to get her proxy for the voting of 2 BOD seats…. meeting had started when i walked in.

It went quite well really and must say Tom handled it quite well and it went as we expected, except with “stupid” questions from certain homeowners who are just as …… enough said….we voted for the 2 seats and proud to say that I got voted on one of the seats…now we need to find a replacement to do my job - a Secretary/Treasurer and Vice President as Adam who was the VP also got voted on….it was a very close race, as there was another person that was nominated and I had 15 votes, while Adam got 16 the other got 14…..I am in it now for 2 year term…and people I need all the help and Prayers from all of you to get this through!

Goodnight and Sweet Dreams! :o)

Okay, I know that this bloggin thing is like writing on your diary… but who has the time? I have a few people keeping tabs, but hubby has more to say than I do, so in earnest of telling people what is going on with my life, am sure some of you will find it boring as hell…but if you’re curious and find me funny, hey thats great too!

Drop me a comment here and there.. and let me know what ya think. I know i’ve blogged about this community i live in, and boy …. sometimes, i just want to.. but let’s keep our cool, as all of you know ..whatever you put in here will come back and bite you in the ass. I put things in here that I would say to the person face to face…as i’ve gotten older, I’ve stopped trying to please everyone, as you just can’t do that, take me as I am…

So in the meantime, people, have a great week and hopefully i will hear from some of you and let me know what you think and i would like to put another page for recipes and if some of you have any recipes you would like to share I would love to get them and maybe we can have a “recipe exchange” thingy…

Hugs! :)

Living In Condo Community…

January 13th, 2008

Hello Everyone!!

Am sure you’re all dying to know the update of what is going on here at my community…well, we will be having our Annual Meeting Jan 15 at 7pm held at the NC City hall….we will be also getting 2 new bloods to be on the Board of Directors seat and I am putting my name in the hat~!~ I will still prolly do the Secy/Trea hat, as we are not or do not have anyone in mind and feel that if we all work together as a team, we can manage!

Well, we are also voting a new President in, and this particular officer is happy that the president we’ve had, has decided to step down and not run again. He’s not bad, but very meek and NOT a leader at all. Still he has serve his purpose…so now the others are a bit worried as to who will be the 2 people to take the open seat available as we (the current members) work quite well together and we all have one goal is make this community a vibrant, friendly atmosphere. The project is almost done, we are just waiting on the painting for 7 building left (I think) and its really looking beautiful here. I can’t wait to post the Before and After pictures!

So, in the end, really this has been a lesson learned in buying into a condo community or any other type community, as there are quite a bit of them popping up - be sure to do your homework and find out all the details - read their Covenants and By-Laws, the Covenants will give you what you can and can not do, etc..and speak to the BOD members and also speak with other homeowners and tenants…might also talk to the Property manager…in the end DO YOUR HOMEWORK….your agent should be giving all this information, but be warned, some of them will do as little as possible, as their goal is get their commission. I learned that the hard way and now, I am paying for it!

Y’all been warned…good luck and hopefully this new year will bring more luck and be prosperous for all!
